Forest Light 3, 31 x 31, Mixed Media on Canvas
| Here, equal sized borders force the viewer to gaze into the center of this wild composition. There is a sense of profound wilderness caused by dark finger-like branches tumbling forward chaotically and obliquely towards the forest floor. This is completely contrasted by the backgrounds more vertical limbs climbing upward adding some degree of classic stability. I believe it's my outrageous use of colour and its harmony that makes this piece intriguing. It was a test of extremes and finding my limits, something I knew I must do before leaving the old growth forest in Kentville NS. |
